The red baron
Manfred Von Richtofen, or the Red Baron, was probably the best fighter pilot in the war. He was born on may 2, 1892. He attended the Royal Military Academy, but then transferred to the German Air Force in may 1915. Later, he was appointed commander of the Flying Circus in June 1917. The plane that he used was called the Fokker DR-1. His home country was Germany, and that is who he fought for. After getting 80 confirmed kills, he was shot down by Arthur ‘Roy’ Brown. Richtofen was 25 when he died. He is considered one of the greatest airmen to have ever lived.
